Kathmandu University is an independent non-government, public institution. It is the third oldest university in Nepal, establishing of the University dates back to 1985. It is located in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchok District, about 30 km east of Kathmandu. KU was established in 1991 with the motto "Quality Education for Leadership". This university operates through its six schools and from premises in Dhulikhel, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.
Courses
At present, the University offers various undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs in Science, Engineering, Medicine, Management, Education, Arts, Pharmacy, Environment, Music, Human & Natural Resources, Information Technology and Biotechnology. The candidates can seek admission to undergraduate or post graduate programs here.
The University has adopted 1 to 10 teacher–student ratio. The admission of students is based on merit, based on their score in the previous examination and written and oral entrance tests.
Fall (July-September) is the normal annual intake time for all the Undergraduate and most Graduate programs of Kathmandu University. Exceptions are with some Graduate and Post-graduate programs, where a concerned School/Department decides on the intake time considering internal needs.

MECEE UG stands for Medical Education Commission Entrance Examination (Nepal UG Medical Entrance Exam). It is a common entrance examination conducted in Nepal for providing admission in medical postgraduate courses.
DM/ MCh program in Nepal was started by Kathmandu University in 1999 in Bir Hospital. After establishment of National Academy of Medical Sciences, DM/MCh program was taken over by NAMS in 2004 starting with MCh programs.

The Government of India established the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in 1975 with the objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on an All India Basis and utilizing.
NEET-PG is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses as per Section 61(2) of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 read with 10 (D) of Indian Medical Council Act,1956.
National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET 2024) will be organised by National Board Of Examination (NBE). NEET 2024 is the national level entrance exam will be conducted on 3rd May 2024. The candidates those who would like to pursue Medical courses such as MBBS/BDS.
