Situated in Kavrepalanchok district, in Kathmandu, Nepal, a collaborative project of Kathmandu University and Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences is one of the finest and most affordable medical schools in the country that was established in 1994 and started its medical training from 7th September 2001.

Eligibility for admission for Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences:
The following conditions and criterion must be met by the willing candidate for acceptance into Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences for the MBBS degree. These standards have been set following the strict guidelines of Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences itself and the Kathmandu University:
- The candidate must have completed their 17 years of age.
- They must have passed their 10+2 standard or Intermediate of Science (I.Sc) with English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry and their major subjects and must not have less than 50% marks in the average aggregate calculated on the basis of these major subjects.
OR
Have completed a bachelor’s degree in any of the subjects: Physics, Chemistry or Biology (B.Sc) from a recognised University, and has studied one other science subject till the ancillary level , with not less than a 50% aggregate and meets the above condition and aggregate requirements of the 10+2 standard.
- Resident Nepali students have to take the KUMET/KUSMS exam, which is considered to be the determinant of merit for admission to this college. Students who are applying from foreign countries and Non Resident Nepali students will have to forward their application to the college for perusal and acceptance of their admission into Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences. Such documents will be needed to get authorized from the Ministry of External Affairs of the student’s resident country and by the Embassy of Nepal.

MBBS: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences follows a learner centred, systematic and elective based approach to educate young budding medical professionals and would be professionals for their career in the field of healthcare.
The junior clinical clerkship and internship continues until the end of the five and a half year of the MBBS curriculum of Tribhuvan University.
The course starts from the month of August every year.
The number of seats reserved for this program is seventy five (75).

The fee structure is based on several slabs of different students :
- Non resident Nepali students
- Students from SAARC countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka only)
- Indian Students (citizens of India)
- Students from other countries.
However, the average course fee sums up to about 37lac INR.
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS):
This is a 4½ year course with twoyears of clinical and para-clinical and two and a half years of clinical courses.
The courses and the internship is completely based on the guidelines of Tribhuvan University and Nepal Medical Council and strictly adheres to the Part I, Part II system of the same.
The criteria for admission to this course is as follows: (for both national and international applicants)
The candidates eligible for admission should have (both national and international applicants):
- Passed 10+2 Science (Biology Group) or Equivalent securing at least 50% separately in
Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% aggregate in total marks OR
Secured at least C+ grade separately in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least C
grade in remaining individual subjects along with GPA 2.4 OR
Secured the Percentage equivalent to above eligibility in regards to the certificate level
programs (A-Level) with different grading system
OR
- Applicants who have passed the Health Science Proficiency Certificate Level /Diploma
(General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science,
Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, Physiotherapy) with Certificate of Equivalence to
Grade 12 Science program from National Examination Board AND
- Secured at least 50% separately in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% aggregate
in total marks both in Diploma and the Examination for Equivalence AND
- Registered in Nepal Health Professional council or Nepal Pharmacy Council or Nepal
Ayurveda Council as per related educational program.
